just took a quick look at it and a previous owner has welded a sheet of diamond plate right over the original floor/bolts.......so my question is am I gonna be able to still get at those bolts to get them off from underneath .....and also anybody have a picture of there bed so i can see where they are located

If you're planning on keeping the diamond-plate, just remove the nuts from the bottom side and then lift the box straight up. You don't need access to the bolt heads...unless they start spinning when trying to remove the nut.

ok im gonna keep my fingers crossed and hit them bolts with an impact wrench hopefully they'll come free with spinning

You won't be able to get an impact on them, unless you use a U-joint connection. However, I'd advise against it. It's very possible for the square shank of the carriage bolt to round out the hole in the box...making removing it next to impossible...and using an impact is more likely to cause that then just a breaker bar and socket. I'd spend some time with a wire brush and some PB Blaster, getting them as clean as you can first, and then try removing them very carefully with the breaker bar and socket first.

I am in the middle of working with my bed also. I'm not sure what you are describing. There are a total of six fasteners holding the bed to the frame on a long bed. There are three through the upper surface of the bed and two at the most aft point that are accessible underneath.

As far as I know you can reach all of the nuts from underneath. The only acceptation is with the installation of a the Saddle Tank option. At that point there is a nutplate and the fastener is installed from the top. All of the other fasteners are stove bolt type design.

Sounds like it is rusted badly. If all else, cut the bolts off at the frame with a right angle grinder and grind down what's left till flush with the frame.

My 72 had two more bolts under the bed just behind the back lip/pan of the bed.

I am removing a bed off a 72 pickup trailer to use it as body parts for my truck. I used an impact with a wobbler extension to get to the frame bolts and ended up having one bolt out of the eight spin on me. I had to gring it off.

If thbe bolts mean nothing to you and you can remove the plate then use a die or even angle grinder with cutt off wheel and go slow and steady.

between the frame and nut or even cut the nuts in half verticaly.
