I used 2x3 and 2x4 square tubing and both 1/4" thick

well thanks to marz. since his truck is awesome, i am going to go with mustang 2 front end instead of i beam. need lower than i beam will allow.
I bought a chris alston front stub for my 89 t-bird a few years back. now that it will never be finished(money).
It is going to donate its front clip to truck.
Did some measuring last night, and it will work out just fine. i need to widen it a little. hub to hub is 58.5 puts my tires in a little on the truck.
making jig for it tonight with cab mounts located.
Since this is already paid for, its definately nice it will work.

Hey DDfab that's great that you found a good suspension for your truck.
I also had to widen my upper and lower control arms cause the MII setup also pushed my wheels
in more than stock... that made my truck look funky!
Can't wait to see your progress

also, ddfab, u may not even need to go mustangII. that suspension from the bird may be just fine. Is that what you mean? Im guessing that front stub has the mustang II built in, after reading your post.

the t-bird front end went bye bye years ago. I have the complete chassis done for the bird.
Just wont have the money soon enough to finish.
Its just a shell mounted to new chassis.
Since truck will be done in a month or so, and it has already donated its wheels and tires and front disc. might as well donate its front clip.

The hub to hub on it is 58.6 with my wheels, it puts my tw at 58.6 also.
I made a tool to simulate the tire combo. so saturday i am going to see if i can go with the truck tw of 60.
hate to widen it just to find out ooops hits fender on turns.

I dought it will, considering the size of tire. better safe than sorry.
I had chris alston weld the front clip with all suspension brackets and rack mounts originaly. only 100 dollars more if they did it.
for 100 bucks I wasnt going to mess with it.

Now that i am going to widen it, i will make a jig. nothing fancy just to keep it level and square when i slice it.
will take pictures of it when done.
the clip goes all the way back to the ladder bar cross member.
going to measure for cab mounts and make a fixture to hold a disc in place, and then make mounts from frame to mounting disc(pad).

have to be nats a** on the cab mounts.
when i made the new rear frame and bed mounts I ran a string the length of the body and lined up the rib all the way down.
I might make them a tad low, that why i can shim up to be precise.
here is a pic of the clip i used.
i have painted arms not chrome though.

how i would love that clip with air ride. frame horns already supported between, jsut cut and drop for the body drop. mmmmm

spec sheet on the forum said track width was 60.4
my clip is 58.6 hub to hub
with my wheel offset. that puts the track width in line with the hub face.
hub to hub on ours probably is 64 like you said. i think my factory rims have a bit of back spacing. which would put our tw behind hub.

I have already taken all the specs from this clip. with the brakes and all it was just under 2 grand.
will build next one myself.
actually getting a stock frame thats bare and I am going to make a new one out of 10 gauge.
all smooth, no bends.
going to make it out of four pieces. two sides top and bottom. that way kick ups and all will be perfectly smooth.

With that set up, could make a pro streeter or low rider or just update the susepnsion on our trucks.
all depends on which jig set up i use.

I have seen some street rod frames done this way, and they look nice. all welds radiused smooth.

sell them that way if they are needed.
making one with stock width, just a little lower for our trucks. know enough local people that have trucks like ours. shouldnt be hard to sell.
