stuck drum
well my drum is stuck. i've pulled my truck about 25 feet or so with a tractor and it didn't unseize. i hit it with an 8lb hammer. a friend told me to rent/find a drum puller and i've called all the auto shops around here and nobody has one. i was thinking about heating it up with an acet. torch and then trying to beat it off. i also tried loosening the starwheel through the back, but i don't know witch way it should be going, and it isn't moving at all.

Were you pulling it forward or backwards? Sometimes they will let loose going backwards. Otherwise, get a small screwdriver and a flashlight and try to peer into the adjusting hole. Look for the automatic adjuster and push it away from the adjuster teeth on the starwheel and at the same time use your adjusting spoon (or another screwdriver) to pry the starwheel from the top towards the bottom. It will take both hands ... one to hold the auto adjuster away and one to work the adjuster wheel.
Wouldn't count on a torch to do anything more than ruin the drum, so I would use that as a very last resort and at that point ... well might as well cut it off as I don't think you could get enough heat (without transferring it to the rest of the brake parts) into it to expand it without a rosebud.
I'm sure others will have more methods and opinions.
Good luck!
Steve

re: stuck drum
well i was thinking of the cutting torch cause it really wouldn't matter if the drum gets warped as long as it isn't tooooooooooo bad cause my friend has a drum lathe

re: stuck drum
if its the front drum you have to remove your wheel bearing first. i cussed and beat my drum up for about thirty minutes. then i looked into my chilton manual i read the info.
if it is the rear drum just loosen the adjuster and spray some squirrel piss (penetrating oil) and try again later.

re: stuck drum
when I had to unceas a drum I took the line off then the bolts that hold on the brake cylinder and hit the cylinder with a punch and hammer, when the cyl fell into the drum it make it a lot easer to pull off. and I didn't have to use heat.

re: stuck drum
The drum is pressed onto the hub. You won't be able yo remove the drum by itself.
Remove the dust cap, cotter pin, and retaining nut. Then you remove the drum and hub as a unit. You will probably have to have them separated by a brake shop.

re: stuck drum
My truck had screws holding the rear drum on. But some trucks you need to remove the axles for the rear. If its a front drum just do like flyboy said.
