bed

Post by alvinator »

I am working on preping the bed for primer and paint and the filler pudding on the bed sides has dried out and cracked and some of it is falling out. Where can I pick up some puddy to fill in that seam down the side of the bed? or is there something else I could do to cover it?

If you are talking about the vertical seam in the back then I would use a 3m seam sealer. If it is the long seam of the bed side then I would just prime it.

Right, either use seam sealer (NOT bondo!)....or for a cleaner look, take some time to weld and fill that seam.

yeah, it is that seam down the side where the two parts meet and the puddy stuff to fill in. I may try that seam sealer.

If you use the seam sealer make sure that you blast it and prime it real good that way it won't take a chance of rusting under there. Seam sealer would work or like stated above weld it and make it look clean.

Better be dead nuts on that if you try. That is a lot to tackle if your not sure. I would blast it and seam seal it.

What would you use to fill the bed seam/ Ive heard guys using lead. Would this be the material of choice? I've also been told the box would have to be cut in half along the seams to get the rust out...what do you guys think is the easiest way to stop those annoying rust bubbles in the seams?
