67 interior door handles?

Post by 67NC »

On my 67, I just re did the entire interior with exception to the headliner, my problem is that on my 67 the actual door mechanism was not what it showed in any manuals, my door had the 66 style. I looked into this and my doors only have hole for bolting up the 66type. so I ordered 66 parts and handles, problem is when they came from LMC the handle had a screw to hold it on and the hardware did not, so I sent the handles back to LMC and asked for handles with clips. problem is when they came they did not fit either. could it be the new door panels from LMC are to thick and I am out of luck? Now I got all new parts in and out on the door but have to roll downthe window and use the out side handle to open the door..... Please let me know what I should do, I am thinking of drilling and tapping what I have. Any other ideas??

I'm not entirely sure what style the '66 has....aren't they the same as the '67?

The '67 mechanism has the same size splines, spline count install depth as the window regulator....and you can in fact swap the handles if you were so inclined. They're both held in by a single screw. (The '67 style uses a recessed Allen-head cap screw for both window and door regulator handles.) I've never heard of a setup that uses clips.

Here's a reference pic...a previous owner removed the Allen-head capscrews and replaced them with regular Phillips-head screws...but as you can see, the regulator should be drilled for these screws.
