ot aluminun extrusion repair
does anyone know of a way of soldering or brazing aluminun together? not trim on trucks. i know it can be done with an aluminun welder but is there any other ways? like with a propane torch and some alum rod? what kind of flux would be needed ? i'm trying to join a corner of extrusion. i don't think jb weld would adhere to it.

boy that sounds intresting, you know aluminum starts melting at around 1000 degrees right? you try to torch those peaces together I want to watch your face when the aluminum melts and hits the floor
you need to weld it really but magic can happen with some cold weld compounds or glue. I like duck tape looks bad and works real good.

For the aluminum repar just use pop rivets and then caulk over the rivets if there is a need to seal the joint from leaks.
As for JB Weld. That stuff is great.
I had an 87 Sportster that had decided to spit third gear out thru the bottom of the transmission case. Wasnt fun when it happened. Locked up the rear wheel at about 45mph. Left a hole in the bottom of the case about the size of a silver dollar.
After cleaning everything up, I plopped in a good amount of JB Weld and ground it smooth from the inside of the case. Replaced the busted gears and rode that bike another several thousand miles before selling it.
I know the repair worked because I saw that bike for sale again a year later and it was still running with no leaks.
