Need help on putting a lift on 1970 Ford F250

Post by Big John »

I am changing my 8 lug split rims and I got some Ford 8 lug 18" wheels so I'm worried that they wont clear and will rub when I'm turning. If I have to lift it how do I go about doing it and how much do you think I should go.

Thanks Big John

Can't you stay with a short profile tire still with 18s?

2x or 4x?

I could but the 18" wheels already had 90 percent tire tread when I got them. I came about getting them Because my friend got new wheels for his 2005 Ford F250 so he gave me the ones that were originally on it with the tires still on the rim. I wasn't going to get them because the lug pattern is different than my 70 F250 they are both 8 lug but the new lug pattern is metric and I didn't want to mess with those old split rim wheels So I got to looking on the Internet and found some wheel adaptors so those wheels will work.

have you tried just bolting them on and measuring what you have for clearance now?

I'll have to get back with you on the tires.

I'll bolt the wheels on as soon as I get them shipped to me
and let you know.

The 8x170 lug pattern off your buddies wheels won't work on your 70 F250 8x6.5 lug pattern they changed in 1999.
