redoing the brakes

Post by stockr »

sup fellas
i mainly some some advice...i have been cleaning up my 67 f-100 to get it ready for some paint...i went ahead and took all the brake components....i am thinking of upgrading the brakes...right now i got drums all around... i do want to upgrade to disk brakes so what kind of set up do i need to support the disk brakes...i will probably try to get those used from a 73-78 truck...

these are things that im probably going to get new

1.brake booster (what year should i get???) :hmm:
2. master cylinder
3. ss brake lines

what else would i need to complete the job???

thanks

The only parts you absolutely have to get from a junkyard donor are the spindles, though it's highly adviseable to also use the matching I-beams, due to differences in the steering bump stop over the years. Virtually everything else is available from the parts store. However, getting an entire front end will still make things much easier, since you won't have to round up all the little parts and pieces.

Also keep in mind that the steering arm on the disc-brake spindle is thicker, meaning you either have to grind it down to use your existing linkage, or just use steering linkage from the same year as the donor truck

Have you read the disc brake tutorial?
