Post by stockr »

what is the widest size of tire that you can go in the back without cutting or shorting the rearend.. maybe choosing a rim with a different offset.....i am going to tub mine and put some wide and skinnes. but i dont know anyone that shortens the rearends. i like the prostock look but im not going to be racing it everyday...just on weekends... :evil:

I know that you can run 10's on the back with a 295 tire on it.

I moved the leafs inboard on a 77 ford truck and did not narrow the rear end at all and ran 14 inch wide wheels and mickys that were 15 1/2 wide,
by using wheels inset all the way to the inside, they looked stock from the
side of the truck.

8) 8) :)
Cut ( FOUR ) pieces of an old ford truck frame that has been junked, fit them to the inside of your good frame, add weld and bolts, the leafs are now inboard, time for the (big WIDE tires)!

Oh yeah (Tubbs)

(stockr) You are correct about the pics in my gallery looking different
from your truck, because the pics are of a 65 that I moved the leafs
inboard on, I don't have any pics of the 77 while I was building it!
I am real sure the way I did the 77,and the 65, will work on a 67-72 truck.
I will post pics of the frame parts cut to fit, 73-79 trucks, I do have two
other sets cut and ready to install on 73-79s. If you need any help please
let me help!

the widest rubbing frame and fender is 21.5 inch wide rims 33inch mt sportsman on 15 inch rims
if the tires drop to 12 psi they rub but at 15psi they are perfect
I think you could do it without narrowing the diff just the rims offset would look a bit strange
