Man you guys are hot on it. That was a good looking truck. I really wanted to lower mine and do some trick stuff but the more I look at some of these more original style trucks the Ford really look good close to stock.

It looks like it's also missing the power brake booster.

Even though it might not be year and trim level perfect it's a damn nice truck. I wouldn't kick it out of the garage . You could definitely spend 12,500 on worse things. Damn just look at the inside of the bed on that, no dents in the wheel wells or scratches on the floor. Even the jack under the hood was detailed and painted. I want my engine compartment to be that clean. The lame spotlight would have to go though.

I hope you're just being that hard on him because of his "Restored" , "all original" claim. If you guys are gonna be this picky, I'm scared to post any future pictures of my truck and project.

It's gonna be like that country song... 54, 55, 56, 57 Chevrolet... I call it Frankentruck because I've taken a part from this truck, a part from that truck and put them all together.

Heck, my truck's gonna be worse than that. I think virtually every part on mine will be from a different truck....and it's gonna be FAR from stock, although maybe not at first glance. Don't worry about us picking apart your truck, I think the purpose of this thread was mainly to suggest that when you "restore" a truck with a fresh paint job, some basic prep can make or break the work. Masking off (or removing) things that shouldn't be painted only takes a few minutes but says volumes in the end. :D

Thats true if you have gone that far in the restoration you could finnish the motor compartment properly .Even the body plug in the middle is painted yellow and it won't be long before that flakes off  .

It all boils down to attention to detail means the difference between OMG that is a clean truck and OMG what did they do to that truck.

since we are looking at the things wrong in the pic. the pic. w/ the truck in the show room if you look at the wall behind the truck there is a sign that says che***let service. that f***s up the pic for me. but the trucks is a real nice one. and some one put in a lot of time and money it looks like.

Whoever told you that was mistaken as Ford didn't paint those plugs. They installed them after the painting was done because those plastic parts wouldn't take the heat from the baking ovens.

true but on the older trucks ford dealers liked to repaint the trucks right,
what do you think that white 1967 custom that didn't sell it became a 1969 ranger two tone. with different tags. It was common. And no it was never repainted after the first sale. although she needs it badly along with a new body. and the interior is all wrong on my truck to.

Leadfoot, are you saying that Ford would take an all-white truck that didn't sell and give it the ol' two-tone treatment and rebadge it?....On my '69 two-tone,I noticed where the blue paint was fading off, there was a grey primer underneath....On my '70 two-tone,where the yellow was faded it was white underneath--as if they started with an all-white truck...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

I noticed that too, Joe. When I was stripping a red and white 67 once I
got looking close at the two tone paint patterns and it does look like the
general factory practice was to apply the white on most of it first then mask and paint the contrasting color. I think leadfoot's referring to dealer quickie paint jobs to get the truck off the lot.
