addin' power brakes.....

Post by Billybobjunky »

ok, this one'll be a doosy...I'm putting the booster and MC from a '70 Ranger F150 in my '67 F100, and so far it's been a bolt-in procedure. I had to adjust the pushrod length a lil so the pivot holes would meet, but the bracket and all that jazz went right in. So now my question is this...how much air could there possibly be in the lines? I bled the rear brakes and they cleaned out, and then the front brakes just kept bubblin and bubblin. The vacuum hoses up top are all good and new. Could the prop valve be out or something? And also, the brakes aren't engaging at all! Any help would be appreciated, got the motor running but I can't test drive it bc i can't stop!!!!!

was the master cylinder table bled? Also, what about the hoses going to the wheel cylinders, are they in good shape? Is the vacuum line secured to a good source?
it's a 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 automobile!

even if it's not a new MC, it'll still require table bleeding? Is this necessary for function, or just makes bleeding take longer? Also, the lines aren't in all that great of shape, that'll make a difference too I suppose? I figured if they weren't leaking, then they are still good. This isn't the case I suppose? The vacuum is the one thing I know is just fine, used new hose and have a dedicated manifold port for it.

oh yeah, the electrical hook-up on the prop valve isn't hooked up yet. Does that affect it's function or what? Thanks guys!

You might try opening both front bleeder screws and just let it gravity bleed for awhile. Make sure the m/c doesn't go empty. When fluid starts to run out of both cylinders close the bleeders and see if you have a harder pedal.
