Dual Front Shock Absorbers

I recall that someone had added dual front shocks to their truck, this was probably at that other place BF (Before FORDification).

Anyone recall the details?

The mounting holes are there on the upper spring support, just have to do something on the I beam.

i have dual front shocks let me get you a picture.

they're in the stock holes on the top but i made custom brackets on the bottom.

Could I just drill the lower mounts off another truck and mount them with bolts?

I need to go to the Pull A Part and snag some helper spring contact pads for the back anyway...

Ok, had to wait 'till I got home to download and convert from bitmap to jpeg and crop out the FTE tags. This was done on a friend's '67.

Never thought about using the stock mounts.

But does it realy stiffen up the front end or are they just for show.
Couldnt even begin to afford a sway bar kit but this looks pretty do-able.

I had heard at one time, that the dual shocks on the I beams would help with handling and tire wear, as it controls the vertical movement at the tires, and keeps inner/outer tire wear to a minimum.

did that make any sense?

I hear that it helps with body roll.

I was hoping that in combination with the biggest sway bar I can drag out of the Pull A Part (Front and rear) it would help a stock height truck handle better, particularly with a big FE up front...

As it is, even with pretty firm KYB's it can be a bit scary...

I've been studying the set up, I think I can actually fabricate a bracket from to bolt onto the sway bar mounting bracket.

Hopefully I can mess with it in the next few weeks.

Let us know how it turns out. I have a few other project to do first but we have some pretty gnarly mountain roads here and I would definitely like to improve the handling an my truck.
