hardest part to find in south texas?

Post by HugYourPlumber »

i recently went to my favorite junkyard to find a new steering column for my 69 three on the tree. Every truck i checked was either missing or was not the column i needed. The owner of the junkyard said i wouldnt find one.But i found one in a 66. He charged me $$125.00 for steering wheel to the steering box. i thought it was a great price. Im wondering if this part is hard to find in your junkyards and what are they worth elsewhere?
I like the shift knob on this column better because its sorta rounded.

Availabilty is strictly regional. Some places have more trucks to choose from, because they lasted longer. You would, for example, find more 3 on the tree trucks in the midwest, because most buyers were "frugal" farmers.

About 5-10 years ago you could find them anywhere. Now they are nonexistent. The EPA and demand for newer parts at the salvages have rendered them extinct, at least around here. :(

minnesota is one of the cleanest places i've been too. no trash blowing around on the streets that i seen. thats probably because i seen city workers walking the streets with trash bags picking it up.

Here they are pretty common to find and they are under $75. Good luck finding a tilt column from a 79. I got my eye on a 79 Bronco tilt column that my Bro in law has in his wrecked Bronco. He is just letting it ruin.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~
