re: help
AC hose is, well, its AC hose and you cant use anything else or it will pop the first time you charge the system.
Most folks reuse the fittings and buy the hose by the foot from the parts store and then clamp it together using special AC clamps.
Thier realy just worm gear clamps with a little arm that sticks out so your sure to clamp em in the right place.
Both hoses to and from the Compressor can be replaced this way. But the liquid line (the little tiny one with the sight glass in it) cannot.

re: help
Your local auto parts store can usually fabricate the lines for you with the special fittings. In fact, I just talked to mine yesterday and was told they could, so I'll be dropping my lines off tomorrow to get them reproduced. I'm sitting down tonight and ordering a new expansion valve and heater core, so I'll have all the parts to get my factory setup put back together.

re: help
I have a ac ticket, you guys can still recharged your ac with r12? I thought they stopped that in 1995. around here that unheard of, and a person can get in a lot of trouble. it's all gone to 134a
with 134a. you need to change the o-rings. and get a 134a upgrade kit.

I have heard also when you change to R-134 you need to get the R-134 approved hoses since the molecules of 134 are smaller than r-12.
Also to improve cooling with the 134 supposedly you are supposed to get a larger condensor to compensate since it takes a little more 134 to cool vs 12.
No first hand experience just what I have heard on other boards.
