Coolant under valve cover.

Post by Gmcarolina »

I bought this 1967 F100 with a 352 fe engine from a friend of mine about 3 years ago .This truck sat for about 8 years got it running like sewing machine . I wanted to clean up the engine do a little detailing to it . When I taken off the valve cover I noticed small amount of antifreeze in the oil . I started it up and watched it and every once in awhile little beads of antifreeze in the oil . The oil looks good and the antifreeze looks clean I'm thinking intake gasket I hope. The 352 is still stock with about 47000 miles on it.

Most likely source is intake gasket.

All the other possibilities i can think of are cracked something.

Id change the gasket first. its easiest even with 80 lb manifold....

Thankyou for your reply. I was thinking same thing I just want to make sure before I dig into it. I've got a set of intake gaskets I guess that'll be a project for the fall when it cools off in the garage.

I started replacing my intake gasket . I've gotten all the mating surfaces clean what a job bending and stretching going to be sore tomorrow. There's no way I'm going to lift that intake back in like I taking it out earlier today. When I put intake gasket on the heads does the print side faces the intake ? I stop for the evening. I'm going to dig out my cherry picker to install it. Hope everything goes good.

Ok thanks , I've got to go napa tomorrow morning I'll see what they have for intake gaskets. When I bought the truck it had a brand new set of fel pro gaskets under the seat it doesn't say print o seal anywhere on the box or on the gaskets. But I guess the grove around each opening that's what it is.
