Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
Thanks Adam, now that the easy stuff is done I have to figure a direction. I have to set-up my portable garage so I can install the engine, trans and t-case and still have room in the main garage. That will also give me more space in the garage to work on the cab. I need to get the inner fenders cleaned and painted as well as the radiator support done. So I guess I have a lot to do!

Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
So I jumped into the Frame Mod for installing the 1979 F250 Steering Box. I have started trimming the Frame and Crossmember. I received some info from the other group I belong to about a kit for mounting the Box. I contacted Battle Born Brakes and bought their kit for installing the newer 79 box into 67 tp 77 Highboys. I also ordered the 3' Riser Block for the Dana44 so the Drag Link is at the correct angle.

Update, the box for the lift block arrived without the block inside. Thanks FedEx for your great service yet again. So contacted Rough Country and provided the picture of the box and they are sending another one. I suggested they really tape up the box well this time. So off to see family this long weekend and will be back onto the truck Tuesday next week.

Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
So returned from seeing family for the first time in over a year. The wife's Escape was great, we got about 32 MPG which was a surprise. And then on the step was the replacement Steering Block was in the box. A second surprise was the kit for putting the 79 F250 PS Box on the truck. So now I will get the block installed and get back to cutting the frame! Pictures to come.

It's getting there. I did get the steering arm off the axle tonight and one stud so far. I will work on the other two tomorrow hopefully.

Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
So I started to install the steering riser block and figured out that the studs are too long. When they are threaded into the knuckle they contact the axle shaft they are soo long. So I pulled the studs again and cut that length back so I can get these installed and torqued to the 110 ft/lbs requirement. Finally making progress on this part of the upgrades. I want to get the steering done so I can get the Engine and trans mounted in the chassis.

Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
So the wife and I made the trip up to PA for the Ford show at Carlisle. Very good day, hot but we actually bought a few items. I got some wire loom for the engine compartment, managed to find some leaf spring plates so I can flip the U-Bolts on the front axle. I also hit the Dennis Carpenter area just right and score a brand new Instrument Bevel for $65. All in all we had a great day and saw some awesome fords too!
OK, so now for actual work. I did get the Steering Block installed yesterday after modifying the bolts. Worked out great. Went to Tractor Supply and picked up the hardware to mount the Steering Box. Now I just have to finish the prep work for installation of the Steering Box Mounting Kit.

Awesome! I was at Carlisle too! Was helping out a friend who's a vendor there. It was definitely a good turnout, and yes very hot out!

I was wondering if the turnout was going to be low, but far from it. There were the ridiculous prices by some, but there were a lot of good buys I thought.

Re: 1970 F250 4X4 Rebuild / Updating
Making slow progress, got all my hardware for the Steering box install. I made new spacers for the Battle Born Brakes kit, I did not like the supplied spacers so I made heavier ones. I am hoping to have some pictures of the mock-up for the install. Trying to get re-acclimated to the hot and humid weather that is back with a vengeance here.
