Hello from Frankfurt/Germany
Hello,
my Name is Volker and I live near Frankfurt/Main in Germany.
My 72`360 FE F250 Sport Custom Camper Special came from Texas to Germany in 2012. It´s equipped with a T18 four Speed Box and drum brakes with brake booster.
Unfortunately there is no Power Steering. In our small streets that is a problem. I think about a MS to PS Conversion, but it is a big problem to find the needed parts in Germany.
I bought it from the PO in December 2019 and since this time, I have done a lot of things on this car.
Some parts missing and had to be added, for Example the Spacer between Carburetor and intake manifold and a lot of things more...
On the other hand I throw many Miles of senseless electrical wires away. In 48 years so many options would be installed and restinstalled, but each with his own new wire.
The body is with "patina", but no Rustholes. That´s what I like.
After the technical tune up, the Underbody and frame will be dry-ice blasted and coatet.
My Daily Driver is a Ford S-Max, a Mid Size Van in Germany... In the USA it is a Minivan.
Then there is a 94´BMW 540i touring with 6-Speed Manual Transmission. This car is good for rides on the "German Autobahn", cause the topspeed is not electronically limited on 250km/h (155mph).
But there is so much traffic here; you often can´t drive faster than 70 to 90 Miles.
My English is not so safe, but I hope you´ll can understand. Sorry for that...
Since two or three Days I read one topic after another on this Board. Great!! A Full package of Information.
Thanks for reading.
Greetings
Volker

from Georgia! Depending on your mechanic skills, it sees possible to convert to electric power steering (EPS). Those parts may be more easily found in your area. Here's a couple of project threads installed on a '56 Fairlane and a '66 Mustang. Don't see why it couldn't be done on our trucks?

with an EPS solvable for sure.
But in Germany security related parts need an examination of a vehicle engineer from the authority.
They would never give a release for such a construction.
So you have to do a individual test for this system, wich costs between 6000 and 10000 dollars. When there is no official release, you lost your insurance cover.
In case of an deadly accident, or a heavy injured person for example, you´ll have to pay for the rest of your life.
Besides I´m a original Freak and would prefer the factory power steering.
Thanks a lot anyway for this inspiration. Maybe there exists a system with a official release. I take a look.

Wow! That's some strict regulations. Hope you're able to find the parts you need. Good luck! There have been several members from Germany. Here's some of their threads. Maybe they can help you find some things.
