Trying to decide
Trying to make up my mind on a couple of things with the interior. It is a project right now, but hope to get it running in a month or less. A driver, slighty modified. I can't seem to make up my mind.
Right now, I have a 4 speed manual style column. No seat installed. I have a nice seat of Jeep liberty power buckets (wrong color). A buddy has promised me a good bench seat, in the right color. A friend has some F100 (mustang) buckets he's selling, right color, but one needs recovered.
I'm trying to decide, do I find an auto column and do bench seat, one of the bucket seats, run an aftermarket floor shifter and do bench or buckets? I am going to run an AOD. Ford only seems to have 3 shift positions, even on the AOD columns. 2nd is left off. So, seems like the factory auto column could work in this case.
How nice do the factory buckets look? Seems like a lot of open space between the seats. Do the seats too small, looks-wise, for the cab? I'm sort of leaning to bench seat & column shifter, but I have been going back & forth on it.
Anyone got some pics of their interior they want to show off? Thanks.

If you weren't so far away from me I'd reccomend not using the factory buckets and selling them to me. But seriously, I love the look of the factory buckets, you just need to cover up the in-cab fuel tank.

re: Trying to decide
Although I think the factory Mustang-style buckets look cool, as far as I'm concerned they're not the most practical for something driven regularly. I mean, they're not the most comfortable. And you mentioned, that does leave a wide space between the seats, unless you could also find a factory-style jumper, like this:
And while I think buckets in general are cool too, I kinda like the ability to fit more than two people in there at one time. Would really suck to have the Swedish Bikini Team bus break down along the side of the road, and you've only got room for one of them in the cab! (Of course with me, I need room for wife and kids...yeah, that's it!)
Yeah, I think in your situation I'd go with an '80s-style bench seat (even a split bench) and replace your column with a regular automatic version.

I would choose the buckets. Offer the second half naked woman a seat in your lap and blame it on the lack of a jump seat. Bumpless for now...

Bench seat or no, I'ld be cramming them in as full as I could make the cab. the rest could ride in the bed, to heck with the tickets I'ld get

I'd go with a stock bench seat, recovered:

re: Trying to decide
I think I'll probably do a floor shifter, since I have the right (smooth) column for that.
I am thinking I'll try the Jeep buckets since I have them. Maybe bolt them in as they are and see how I like them. If they are working good I'll eventually dye the seats or get some seat covers made to fit them.
I eventually plan to relocate the gas tank. I might a carpet remnant to cover the tank temporarily.
