Air Cleaner

Post by Skkzhg »

Looking for recommendations for my '71 with a 302 with factory 2bbl carb. The lower half of the stock cleaner has 8-10 1/2"-5/8" holes drilled all the way around the bottom. I have no idea if it is stock or not or why the holes are there...

Should I look for a stock lower and just replace it? I have a '78 truck with 302 also but the air cleaners are different I think.

Or should I look for an aftermarket? I think I would like to replace the stock valve covers with aluminum at some point. Is there a brand cleaner that works best with the stock 2 bbl carb. If I go with an aftermarket, where do I connect the vents for the PCV valve and oil breathers?

Thanks!

No those holes aren't supposed to be there. Some backyard engineer thought he could outsmart Ford. If you're going with aftermarket valve covers you might as well go aftermarket with the air cleaner also.
