2100 and 2150 carbs
I have a 71 F100 390ci auto trans with a 2150 carb. I have read that the 2150 was manufactured 1973-1983. I'm assuming this was not the original carb. I'm having what I think are carb issues. ( idle problems, long warm up, hesitation) I'm going to buy a reman or possibly a aftermarket carb.
Questions, Should a 71 390 even have a 2150? What is the correct carb for this year and engine? Could the 2150 be a problem? Has anyone tried the new aftermarket 2100 and 2150 carbs being sold and most likely made in China?

Before you go buying anything from China or other unreliable source, give Guaranteed Carburetors a call. http://www.guaranteedcarburetors.com/pa ... ORS/1.html I've bought 3 carbs (2 Autolite 2100's) and all were bolt on and go. They even built me one for my '64 Fairlane 289 and added an electric choke. Lifetime warranty and reasonable pricing. Just because your engine's not listed, give them a call and they can fix you right up.

The problem you describe sounds like a choke problem. Describe the carb. Manual or electric choke?
The 2100 series carbs are very simple and easy to rebuild. Parts are readily available.

2150 was not OEM for the year. Ordered a reman 2100. Electric choke.
Thanks

Do you mind sharing what you were charged for the carburetor? I'm done fiddling with mine, and if it's a good price with a lifetime warranty, I might just go the same route.wyngnut55 wrote:2150 was not OEM for the year. Ordered a reman 2100. Electric choke.

The one's I bought from Guaranteed Carburetor were $200 including electric choke installed. That was a couple years ago but still should be ball park.

Re: 2100 and 2150 carbs
Original equipment for my engine is a 2100 heat tube type auto choke. 1 Heat tube was broken off, maybe why a 2150 electric choke was installed. I got a reman carb through Auto Zone $197 plus a $75 core charge. They had it in 2 days, easy to return if there is a problem and you don't have to pay shipping when you turn in the core. $200 seems to be about the going rate. Most of the reman carbs I found come from the same place, UREMCO in Chicago I believe. The carb made all the difference in my case. Truck purrs, idles and runs nice and smooth.

Re: 2100 and 2150 carbs
Where is the heat tube supposed to be piped in from? Mine has the heat tube fitting on the carb but no line I can find to attach to it. Also, what is the fast idle screw base setting supposed to be? 71 F100 302 3 spd column shift 2100 carb(im assuming. No tag on mine, either)

Fast idle should be set at around 1000 rpm.
