Hi,
I just got a 1976 F250 highboy myself and I'm considering the same swap. I have a mustang with a 302 that makes 446 and 467 at the wheels all day long. Have had it for 15 yrs and ran with this numbers on a t5 hard for about 10yrs. My whole point about it, and yes I know trucks are different, weight, etc... but going windsor based would be way easier and less expensive for sure. You can make 500hp easily with inexpensive parts, just put a crank stud girdle for extra insurance. I read an article about a 460 swap which is common but they make it seem like a nightmare for 4x4 f250s.

I'm sure the Windsor would be easier, not 100% sure since I just got into trucks but I know the motor will easily make that power. I have a 390fe in mine with a 4 speed and was going to build it, but knowing I can make a 460 small block if I wanted..after market block, or even smaller stroked Windsor with good hp and tq might be the way to go.
If anyone has any input please chime in...as I said I'm new to having a truck, but know Windsors all day long.
Good luck woth your build, keep us updated.

A crew cab with a small block if going to be a dog, regardless of the HP. Only way I'd consider it is with a pair of smaller turbo's since torque is what moves ya and a 400hp small displacement engine is going to be hurting for torque if N/A.

Honestly it depends on your skill set. Doing it your self requires time but not a ton of money. What I've seen from the Cummins swap sites was not impressive. I have a pretty thorough built thread in the projects sub forum.

Now you've really muddied the water... I figured a diesel conversion would be to expensive to consider or it wouldn't be a good value. That's why I never looked into it.
