'77 F-350, engine code Z?

Post by tsherry »

Hey, gang--

Giving into my Ford addiction, I brought home a '77 F-350 U-Haul that will evolve into a tool hauler for a landscape business.

It's got numerous issues, none of which appear to be serious. In trying to decode the data plate, the VIN states the the engine code is "Z" which i can't find in a database. It looks like an FE, with a 2bbl carb. It has an NP435, and naturally it's 2WD. Can anyone chime in on this odd engine code?

Found out it's an FT, 330 CI, 2bbl with a 2150. Widely used in U-Hauls and darned little else!

Make sure it's an FT as other than valve covers there's not much similar. FT's are pretty bulletproof but have almost no parts support.
