Neutral safety switch actuator pin

Can someone please give me info. I was changing out the actuator pin on my 72 F250

part of if fell down the steering col cover. Do I need to take the column apart or will be ok

I'm assuming an automatic transmission? How big a piece and which part of the actuator dropped down in there? The column is a pretty simple design so not much to jam up.

Thank you for the reply. Yes it’s an automatic. It was the part that snaps onto the column. I don’t hear anything when you turn the wheel. Just trying to avoid any problems. But if there’s nothing to worry about that’s great
