Twist in brake lines

Post by Lrrr-RulerOfOmicronPersei8 »

I am sure there is a more descriptive name for them. Maybe brake line coil, spiral, or just bend? I myself did not learn what it was for until recently but its a safety feature. I am sure many people here have worked on cars that are old enough to they did not have the twist in the brakelines coming off the master cylinder. Well, i guess the older cars had a problem with the brake likes fracture cracking and causing the car's brakes to go out.

So the auto industry implemented the twist to reduce the amount of repeated stress from the body and/or frame flexing differently from the master cylinder.

They are easy to add into new lines by just wrapping the brake line around a pipe.

Just a way to add a little bit of safety into our rides.

:D
