Rebuilding Steering Box-What Else Should I do?

Post by Cal2121 »

I have a 68 Ford F-250 CS. The Bendix steering box is leaking, so I am going to have it rebuilt (Redhead Steering). What other steering items should I change, if any? It seems to steer pretty good and is not really sloppy.

Thank you

I would go ahead and source the rebuilt pump while you have the truck down, (you will be glad you did when the old pump gives out 50 miles from home in the future). I'd seen rebuilt ones for around $60 and DC has a new one for $125. Also go a through inspection of your hoses looking for dry rot and signs of metal fatigue and issues with the fitting threads.
