Door panel - Sport Custom
Does anyone know if there is a supplier for the aluminum foil trim (with black pinstripe) that goes on the Sport Custom door panels? Mine is pealing away and I would like to replace it.

No....you'll have to replace the whole panel, unfortunately.

Herb,I thought I was the only nut that actually thought about repairing that trim chrome on the door panels...I've seen similar stuff to what you're talking about at an interior shop(but not self-adhesive)...You might want to check a hobby shop also...My '70 C/S door panels were perfect except for that chrome trim...I bought a roll of that shiny metal tape you get at Home Depot for air ducts and such...I applied it to the chrome piece, worked it in good with my thumbnail so there was no wrinkling, then trimmed the excess off with a good sharp Exacto knife...It actually turned out pretty good...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

Howdy Joe - well if you're nuts that makes two of us. like you my door panels are in excellent shape except for this foil trim. I removed the panels yesterday to replace the locks on the doors and remove and clean up the latch mechanisms. I figured before I reinstall the panels i would work on the trim - easier on a horizontal workbench than on a vertical door with hinges. I'll look at the Hobby Lobby's etc and Home Depot's for possible alternatives. Thanks for the tip.

Try using Bare-Metal Foil that scale modelers use for the chrome trim on models. It should be available from any hobby supplier.

You're welcome Herb. By the way, if you try this product you have to do a picture tutorial on it, good or bad , so we can all see if it works.

Believe it or not there is a set of this trim item(both doors)on ebay right now.....sorry I can't post a link but I saw it just a few hours ago.....The set if I remember right is in with an auction for a bunch of door parts. If you narrow your ebay search to 1967-1972 Ford Trucks you'll be able to finf it pretty quickly.Good Luck.

ok, I game for fessing up on how it went good, bad and ugly. tutorial - sure. yeah I have seen some door panel trim on ebay over the last few days but I think this must be chrome trim for a metal panel. my panels are vinyl coated "cardboard" for a lack of better description. I did see a set of blue panels like mine with the trim in pretty good shape but they had a rectangular section around the window crank that was wood grain from a Ranger - mine is a Sport Custom not all decked out with wood grain.

thanks Cape Cod. Nice parts auction. My trim is different from the one they are selling. Here's a pic.
