I have a 72 F100 that the steering gear just went out on. I turned left at an intersection and the bottom of the steering gear popped out along with the ball bearings. This steering is a manual gear with the stamping of C5TR3550A1 and a tag of SMA H 8B20C. Is this really a 68 manual or even power steering gear that was put into this truck?
What's the best way to get this fixed? Should I rebuild it or find a local place to rebuild? Rebuild kits seem hard to locate for this even though I have been searching with the OEM numbers, etc.
