Hi all. I've just been bestowed the privilege of restoring my Dad's ol 1964 F100. (VIN: F10JD512155 ) it currently has a 1979 Ford 351M engine (V8). I've always wanted to have it, now I do. :| Its running so half of the starting battle is done. I'm making a game plan to attack it. I'm not trying to do a frame off restoration but I want to make it nice. I want to keep some of its character but also fix a lot of bad things. Engine work has been done, mechanically things are working well. I do have to run flashers to the back, and get the wipers working consistently - so i can pass inspection and get it registered.
my current To do list - in no specific order but in my 6 month plan:
1. Address Bad Roof Rust around the crown mostly above the drip rails (but I'm sure there is rust below it) (See pics) (considerations - replace the whole main cab. or cut out rust and weld in new sheet metal or cut off roof, and replace it with one cannibalized from one at a junkyard cab that is damaged somewhere else. ****(I'm accepting any good advice on how to attack this roof problem)**** I have read some threads already would love to see the work that was referenced in a post by FORDification on Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:28 am( that link doesn't open now.)
2. New Tires (235 70 R 15) (or maybe go even wider with 245 70 R15s)
3. Sand entire body and then prime (or should i have it media blasted) paint next year.
4. Replace wiring, new wire harness, lots of things have been rewired recently by the mechanic that did the valve job and basic conditioning.
5. Convert the front drums to disk brakes - add power booster and double bowl master cyllinder.
6. Add Power steering gear box, and pump.
7. replace the truck bed floor. add bed liner to the sides.
Yay for me. :|
