Looking for a air cleaner snorkel for a late 60's to early 70's 6 cylinder motor.

SOLD-71 F-350 dually flatbed, 302 / .030 over V-8 with a "baby"C-6, B & M truckshifter, Dana70/4.11 ratio, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, full LED lighting on the flat bed, and no stereo yet (this way I can hear the rattles to diagnose)! SOLD!

The purpose of the heat riser (folks also call it a snorkel) is to capture the hot / warm tempered air coming off of the exhaust manifold."hdman90"]What exactly is this? what does it do? what is it's purpose?
Just curious...
It sends the warm air to the carburetor, (via the air cleaner) to provide for a quicker "warm up" and leaner burning engine (when cold).
