Newbie from Canada and yes I have a Mercury truck

Post by cdnwillyg »

Hi from Alberta, I just bought a stalled project that is a 1968 Mercury 250 with a 390 4bbl and C6 tranny. I'm hoping to get it underway next week.
The complete drive train and cab have been done and painted so all I need to do is put it back together and get the box painted.
The PO had the truck at a body shop??? for almost 6 years and they never finished the project. In the process he had purchased just about everything new but finally took this guy to court and was award compensation for his pain and the return of his truck. He wanted to get this misery out of his life and along I came and scored what I think was a great deal and awesome project.
I do understand that these trucks and Fords are very similar in their body components and that is a good thing because I can't find any forums that deal with Mercury's.
I'm hoping that there are some here that know these trucks well enough that I can get my vin broken down as the warranty plate has been removed for painting.
Thanks Willy

Welcome aboard from Northern Ca, and yes I have a Ford truck. Just a little kidding.
I think that in 68 your original interior was same as a Ford. Of course your exterior emblems are different.
Course I am no expert on the matter. Not by a long shot.
Enjoy your project and keep on Trucking..............John.

Thanks for the welcome!
I did start a builders thread just to let you know, not much happening but going thru all the parts and identifying if they actually belong. :?
