Brakes need 2 pumps to get anything

hi..71 f250 all original. need to pump 2x to get some brakes wondering which part I should start with the booster or ?

Where you start is getting the truck off the ground wheels and drums off and visually inspecting everything before throwing parts at it. You could have a wheel cylinder leaking causing air to get into the system. you could have brake shoes out of adjustment, or a combo of both. Regardless, id say get your eyes on all four corners before coming up with an action plan.

hmmmm....well I have brakes after 2 pumps so cant be a leak can it?

If the truck is new to you it would be a good idea to get your eyes on it since you may not know the history. Your truck has a dual reservoir master cylinder. you could just be pumping up and using the front or back. You may try making sure sure all the brakes are adjusted correctly, loose drum brakes will take alot of slack out of the pedal if loose.

What happens if you give it 2 pumps to get brakes and then hold steady pressure? Does the pedal sink slowly or stay up?

Agree though, put eyes on all four corners and bleed the system... retest.
