Hello from WA
Hi Folks
Angus here from WA. Recently got into my first f100 -
It is a 72 swb with a recon 390, restomod-ish. Definitely a work in progress and looking to get help in completing a couple jobs - trivial to some no doubt and mostly electrical in nature.

Re: Hello from WA
Thankyou everyone for the hearty welcome. Almost 1 week into my 72 Ford F100 ownership and learning new things every day.
There seems to be a wealth of great info in the different categories and a well-organized forum at that.
The things I am looking to tackle on the truck (and not limited to) in the short term:
Front right parking brake light not working (suspect it's a bulb which is on order).
No horn, don't know if it doesn't exist or just not wired up (still need to investigate)
Turning signal - I hear the clicker but no indicator on the dashboard
Fuel gauge has no reading (tested it and I think it's the sender unit - on order)
Ignition has separate keys to that of the door(s), presume one can replace the barrels to be uniform. Also the housing for the ignition twists in its casing.
Ignition has an aftermarket starter button which has resulted in some sort of bastardization of the ignition - not sure what I am going to do here.
Looking at getting a tonneau cover

Re: Hello from WA
Not sure if this the reason but, there is a ground wire on the rag joint(from nut to nut)which is and was commonly broke due to wear and from NY.... truckgoat_72 wrote:Thankyou everyone for the hearty welcome. Almost 1 week into my 72 Ford F100 ownership and learning new things every day.

Re: Hello from WA
So this may be a valid issue, but I can't actually find the horn/siren in the engine bay anywhere. Perhaps I add the la cho cha rach air horn i always wanted.

Re: Hello from WA
So roughly a month plus into ownership of my ford f100. I have really enjoyed the experience thus far of driving it and I also have relished having a bit of a work truck for my garden / domestic jobs.
That said, as I mentioned before a work in progress so I can provide some updates.
a. I purchased a cover from it for $99 and it works great. IM me if you want details as I don't want to do any public product promotion.
b. Status on the horn ... well to begin with there is no horn fitted, but I can see the cable for it. I think the horn relay switch is buggered, and I don't see another cable for the horn that is supposed to be on the driver side. quick question, are the horns in series on the same cable or independent. I could not make sense of the schematic.
c. new tires, repacked bearings, have made a huge difference to handling and steering.
d. replaced sending unit in the fuel tank and now get 1/4 tank reading on a full tank of gas. I am only getting 1.5 volts to the gauge / sending unit, so I have an instrument panel voltage regulator on order.
e. fixed parking light switch on brake pedal
f. replaced the dimmer switch on the floor, works great.
h. flasher wasn't coming on front right indicator lite, saw one of the elements on the bulb was broken.
overall, i have enjoyed the troubleshooting and tinkering. I get questions all the time and comments about the truck when I go out and folks, for the most part, supprised to see it full of garden waste. These cars were built to work
... and finally with or with or without a load I still only get 9mpg
