I need to know these things.

Post by runxchubchubxrun »

Hey Ya'll,
I was offered a job at a restoration shop that does a lot of 70s ford trucks. I am only meant to answer phones but the guy sent me here to learn a bit more about the body style differences so I don't sound like a complete idiot when I first start. I am mechanically inclined, I just haven't done much with the older stuff. Is there a good article or thread that one of you can so kindly direct me to?
Any response or guidance would be greatly appreciated:]

Well thank you! Yall are definitely the most welcoming forum I've have been in so far. I can tell the difference with a 67 but I've noticed, in my opinion, that the early 70s models look alike. If I get an ignorant guy coming in who is just trying to sell his dads old truck for parts, I have to see if all the emblems and accessories are still intact. Which apparently is easier said than done because I honestly have never taken the time to notice a difference. I have an old 93 that is my mistress, but its nothing special I just hold on to it for sentimental reasons.

It used to be a phenomenon here that many people who bought a '67 soon acquired a new name: parent.
We used to call it "The Curse of the '67".

Haha! That's probably why there isn't any being worked on right now. There's plenty 71s and 72s though. One day I'll do a walk around of the lot and show y'all. Apparently they have some rare ones but honestly I don't know the difference. Hahaha
