I've been lurking for a while, had a username that I forgot, and finally decided to jump in and make myself known. I live in eastern CT and have a 1971 long bed F100 that is on the road, used for dump runs, hauling wood, and pleasure drives. It has a 302 engine and three-on-the-tree shifter. Also in the fleet is a 1970 short bed 4WD with a 360 that was my first foray into vintage vehicle ownership. It was in an advanced state of decomposition when I got it and, despite the time and money I have spent making it usable, it is pretty decrepit, relegated to yard-vehicle use hauling wood and plowing snow. A 1968 parts truck, the most recent acquisition, completes the junkyard motif.
The old vehicles have been educational, to say the least, and my experience working on them has given me the confidence to delve more deeply into modern vehicles than I ever thought I would. This board has been very helpful to me, and I hope to return the favor by sharing my knowledge with other members.

Welcome from Michigan! Was that 4x4 shortbox you got a frame chop? Sounds custom to me. Any pics?

Thank you for the welcoming words.
As far as I know, the 4WD short bed truck is stock. I am the third owner, and I know that the first two owners used it primarily as a plow vehicle, so I doubt they would have gone through the trouble of modifying it in that way.
