Re: Yo
Thanks guys.
The website has been very helpful with my truck.
I've had several adventures so far with her that fordification has been a lifesaver for...
November 2016 I dropped off Jolene at a shop to put a new blower motor and heater core into the original AC under dash HVAC set up... returned from the shop with a tick in the motor and the heater barely worked... wont go back to them again.
I scoured the forums and figured out that the tick was from the Cam somewhere either a lifter or a bearing. Pulled the cam and a bearing came out of its groove with the cam, so that caused me to have to pull the engine. had to buy a crane, engine stand and several tools to make it happen.
I pulled the engine and replaced the cam. I chose a recommended one from several forums on this site- 901 crane for the FE 390 in her. slapped in a new cam bearing, replaced the springs, lifters, timing set and the cam and put it all back together. weekends and evenings for a month or so while I commuted with a borrowed beater. wouldn't start after getting it back in... turned out that the fuel pump was bad, and the ignition (pertronix ignitor 2) had gone bad... replaced all and it ran fine. broke int he cam according to recommendations from this site and Ive neen driving her daily since.
Now Its got a wicked exhaust leak at the manifold to the pipe connection, the brake lights are intermittently in and out depending on if I turn on the emergency flashers or wiggle the turn signal indicator.... so the saga continues!
Plans in the future are to put an aftermarket vintage air in it, replacing the original AC system (rotted out), get the lights ont eh cab to work, fix the blasted brake lights and insulate the cab. Oh and repair the exhaust leak.
are we having fun yet?
