So after running into some issues with my daily driver and essentially turning it to a project, I remembered that my mom had a 71 F100 Lwb 302 auto 2wd that had been sitting on her property just wasting away and with little probability that she would ever drive it. It would have been to hard for her to drive being that it has no power steering and the such.
They say ask and you shall receive so I did and she gave me the truck. The truck was in running condition when parked 3 years ago so it didn't take much to get her running again. Just changed the oil, other fluids, replaced battery, and cleaned it up and she started right up.
I have had it for a few weeks and in that time I have been utilizing the Fordification site and forums to get up to speed!
The truck has treated me well aside from the gas mileage and transmission fluid blowout through the vent. (I suspect over fill, any other possibilities?)
I am seeking efficiency more that anything else I would love to utilize it as a possible daily driver but definitely need better gas mileage than I currently have. Suggestions?
We also have a 97ish 5.0 explorer with AWD (have to confirm the year, I have before but can't remember) on our property that I can cannibalize for parts. Can anyone point me in the direction of some previous examples of a similar build? What can I use? Or is there a better route?
Anyway I'm exited to see what the future holds for the Forgotten F100!
