Grandpas72!

Post by Grandpas72 »

Hello my name is Eddie just acquired my grandfathers 1972 F250 Camper Special after 6+ years of my brother holding it hostage and doing basically nothing but torture the truck. As far as i know he purchased this truck new off the showroom floor. Its a 1972 F250 Camper Special with the 360 ci motor and C-4 trans? Joined to learn more about these trucks and find the hard to find parts.

Here is the truck as of today 6-14-2016

And for some reason he took engine out and apart and is now sitting in bed. :? :cuss: Debating if I should send block and get it cleaned up or save for a used longblock :dk:

Thanks for the welcoming everyone! I look forward to spending hours on this site learning from everyone!

Took a min from work to separate the scrap in the bed from what I'm keeping.

So I was looking into the vin and info tag, when I was decoding the vin there is a letter that I can't seem to find info for.

The vin is F25YRP30443:

I understand F25 is for F250 2wd
Y is 360cid
R is San Jose,CA
But what is the "P" for?

I know it's a camper special but I find Sport, SuperSport,Ranger and Ranger XLTs I'd like to find out so I buy the correct parts to restore it as best as I can.

The "P" is the leading character in the production number of your truck.

May 1972 - P20,000, thru P39,999

Check out this page on the site for complete details.

Congratulations on the truck and Good Luck!!

Shame on your bro, bro. I'm sure your grandpa will be proud you've rescued his truck. Fix it, enjoy it - and whatever you do, don't let your brother drive it! LOL

Any affordable Engine Rebuild kits you all can recommend? Also looking for a 390 rotating assembly if anyone has any parts laying around.
