Hi all. I have a 72 F100 and am hoping to upgrade my front brakes to disc without having to use the full "75 up" front suspension. Would like a clean set of 73 or 74 disc spindles.
Thanks
john

Re: Looking for 73, 74 disc brake spindles
do not know why looking for 73/74 since all the spindles interchange from 73/79,, only thing I ever have seen was different was the dust shields on 73/74 do not have the vent , as where as the 75/79 ones have a vent to keep the rotors cool

Actually, 75-79 king pins are .14" longer and so are the matching surfaces of the I-beam and spindles.http://www.fordification.com/tech/Ibeamsspindles.htm

Re: Looking for 73, 74 disc brake spindles
WELL I GUESS , since 1991 I have been selling wrong spindles cause I have not had one comeback yet for 73/79 trucks and been doing this for awhile,, yes some I-Beams are different especially on 65/67 trucks where grease fittings are,, so I guess I am wrong once again ,, But that's OK cause I will continue selling spindles for 73/79 trucks with no issues,, also last time I looked I saw adjustment on some I-Beams to adjust where the bump stops so that does have nothing to do with bump stopping on where the wheels will stop that can be adjusted,,, me personally I would just go to any 73/79 F100/150 truck, take out the WHOLE Radius Arms, I-Beams, Spindles, Tie Rods etc. and just install it under any 65-72 Truck and while I am at it, take the sway bars out from under the front of F-250's and put under the F-100's,, But once again I don't go by the book either,, Also that article DOES NOT MENTION On Tie Rods, especially when you have to use 73/79 Tie Rods on any 65/72 trucks or grind off a 1/2 at least on the end of the spindle where the tie rod goes

Re: Looking for 73, 74 disc brake spindles
I've read hear that 73/74 spindles will work with my existing 72 axles/king pins. Sounds like the way to go if I can find them

Re: Looking for 73, 74 disc brake spindles
NO offense,, I have found that one side has a D5TZ # For 73-79 trucks and the other side has several #'s , all interchange books show 73/79

Re: Looking for 73, 74 disc brake spindles
I've always found it confusing that they'll list a D5TZ part number which implies a 1975 date of manufacture and say it works for 1973. If I don't know the part numbers I'm prone to search backwards sequences and look for future applications with earlier DOMs, not the other way around. They have shims for the king pins so maybe they intend for you to shim and ream the bushings to fit? All I know for sure is the '74 fit with no modifications on my '70.
