Post by Big specht »

Im need a patch panel for the frt of my bed. All I can find is the one that LMC sells that is 16" wide. Or does any have good piece of a bed floor they want to sell?

that seems to be what's available for the most part. For something used you can try posting in the parts wanted section.

i am in the middle of replacing the front of my bed floor in a 67 f-100 short wheelbase. i have the patch panels that LMC sells. they start to line up o.k. then as you work your way to the center of the bed the ribs do NOT match up. i don,t know if any other aftermarket panels are any better. i am going to use a roll-on bedliner, hope that will not look to bad.

if LMC had made their parts here and not in china maybe they would have fit better . i guess you get what you pay for.

Do you mean they lined up until you started welding ? that can be helped if you tack weld around the patch , then weld it solid .
although it can still warp.

Or they just didn't fit to begin with ?

they did not warp from welding . i moved around with my spot welding. not staying one place to keep it from warping. just cheap china junk. if i had known that it was going to be so far off, i would have gone to the wrecking yard and got them to cut out the floor between the fenders. the patch panels do not match before i cut any thing out. live and learn.

I believe 1973-1979 f150 will be spot on, and you can probably even find one in a junkyard, the only issue is that the wheel tub will be a different size and shape from the 67 wheel tubs
Bumpside Ford truck, made out of an 1967 f100, a 1972 f100, a 1978 lincoln, a 1987 f250, a 1993 crown victoria, a 2003 crown victora, and a whole lot of cutoff wheels and mig wire. Doesnt have many uses but is amazing at confusing the guy behind the parts store counter

I'm in the same boat with my bed. I just ordered some 48" x 23" wide repair panels from Sherman Parts because I couldn't find a front half - haven't got the parts yet to see how they match up with the bed. What's really stupid is the bed is 49" between the wheel wells, why sell a 23" wide piece and not a 24 1/2" piece? I'll have to put 3 pieces together to get the full width of the bed.
I was considering buying a 73-79 front half but was unsure how it would fit and can't find specific dimensions online - has anyone done this?

Its almost looking like a 80/90's bed floor is the same but I haven't found one that isn't smashed or has a spray in liner to confirm that they are the same rib style I have a profile gauge that I'm planning on taking to the junk yard to check differant beds

For someone NOT doing a restoration, rib pattern/style is irrelevant.

OP, autobodyspecialt.com sells American made body panels. The bed plates measure 23x48 inches. Hope this helps!
