New guy from SoCal
Hi y'all,
I stumbled onto this site last March, shortly after I'd bought a 1970 F250 Ranger Lariat Camper Special (gawd, that's a mouthful) as a project. I'm old enough to know better than to take on yet another project, but not too old to do stupid s**t anyway. I'd googled "VIN decoder" and FORDification.com was one of the results. SIte is great and I know exactly what I've got --or at least what it was when it was built. And, after a couple false starts and a flaky engine builder, I'm finally about ready to get the old beast back on the road. My target is to drive it to the Knott's Berry Farm Ford show in April and I'm dumb --or confident -- enough to have already sent in my entry.
The truck is Yukon Gold, black interior, 390 and automatic, power steering and brakes but no air conditioning. Paint is original, in decent shape and will probably buff out pretty well, body is almost perfect and there's no rust, anywhere. It spent most of its life in northeast Oregon (the dry, high desert side). Another guy in SoCal bought it and brought it south in 2013, tore it partially apart to "restore" it, bought some expensive parts and either lost interest or ran out of money. What I got last year, for $500, is a never-wrecked truck with a damn nice interior and missing radio, straight no-rust body,, torn apart engine, "lost" exterior side trim, and a torn apart engine with a block that was unuseable ("lost" main caps), rebuilt heads, Edelbrock intake, and some heavy dollar pieces like Mahle forged pistons and SCAT forged crank and rods. The new short block is back from the engine builder so it's time to start putting this thing back together.
I'm probably gonna have tons of questions, 'cuz I've never had an F-series before ('37 Ford 1/2-ton street rod,'78 GMC Sierra Classic short bed and '94 Ranger extended cab, which I wish I still had) and this one is probably going to beat me up at least once or twice. The site is great, appears as though the people are. too. Thanks for having me.
(I'll post some photos soon as possble)

Welcome!
Out of order, I show you out of order. You don't know what out of order is, Mr. Trask. I'd show you, but I'm too old, I'm too tired, I'm too [censored]' blind. If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place! Out of order? Who the hell do you think you're talkin' to? I've been around, you know?..And Harry, Jimmy, Trent, wherever you are out there, [censored] YOU TOO! - Lt Col. Frank Slade
