Preventive Measures for Rust Inside my Doors
Does anyone have a recommendation about what to do about surface rust inside my doors? Maybe its not worth worrying about. I thought about spraying undercoating in the doors to slow down the rust and also help with sound deadening. I'd post a pic but it says file is too large.

Clean, rinse, and dry the insides of the door shells, tape closed the drain holes, and apply POR-15 or Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator. Pay particular attention to the door corners and seams.
For sound control, I highly recommend Dynamat, FatMat, Zillamat, BoomMat, or an equivalent product. It needs at least 80 percent coverage over the large flat planes to be really effective. Your doors will close with a satisfying thump instead of it sound like someone banging a metal trash can lid.

"Undercoating" over rust doesn't do much , in fact it can create a moisture trap and make it worse.
A cheap and easy solution is to coat the area with automatic transmission fluid. (ATF)
ATF creeps into the tight areas and will penetrate any dust and dirt , It's best to do this twice a year (Spring and Fall)
It does make a mess but it will keep the rust from getting any worse.

Genius and simple idea with the ATF!
I would definitely address any and all rust you find. Especially if it's in the harder to access parts of the truck. I have learned the hard way that any rust you ignore or repair poorly will often come back much worse than it was before. IMO, its better to deal with it properly while you're there.

Kind of like the atf idea, I've done drain oil in the nooks and crannies of my plow truck. It seems like its done a pretty good job. I'm also experimenting with white lithium grease on a wheel well on the plow truck.

Drain oil will work, maybe cut it with kerosene,
ATF doesn't smell as bad.
Basically ,oily metal won't rust.
If you're doing a restoration ,sand blasting and coating is a good way to go .
But if you're just trying to keep the "rust mites" away oil is very effective.

ATF in a spray bottle does wonders to "drown out the iron moths". Just remember, reapply regularly, those damn iron moths always come back!

Do you thin it out with something so it sprays better?

Re: Preventive Measures for Rust Inside my Doors
When I lived in the UK, the stuff to get was called Waxoyl. It could be injected deep into chassis sections with a special hose and nozzle, or just applied to surfaces. It's pretty thin at first and penetrates small gaps, but dries to a waxy substance that permanently coats metal surfaces and leaves little or no odor. I just did a search and it looks as though it's hard to get in the States if you're a private buyer and somewhat expensive, but this showed up as a viable alternative on a couple of searches - http://www.eastwood.com/ew-heavy-duty-a ... -5-oz.html
I might try it on the inside of my roof when the cab's in paint - a coating on the seam where bumps tend to rust might not be a bad idea.

The internal frame coating sounds like good stuff. I may try that in the spring when things warm up a bit.

Re: Preventive Measures for Rust Inside my Doors
Hello 19ford71. I'm in the process of working on my doors on my 68 F100. I also have rust inside my both my doors. I'm working on the driver's door now. I used a product called Right Stuff Derust Metal Conditioner. I have used this product several times and it did a good job. But you do need to lightly sand the areas and clean them before applying it. When it drys it will have a hard black color with some gray cloudy areas. It has to dry at least 8 to 12 hours then you're ready to go. Oh yes. After it drys you can if you wish paint over it.
