3M tape to attach wheel we'll trim ???

Post by ironhorse2022 »

Hi all,

I'm considering using 3M two sided tape to attach wheel trim to my truck. This type of tape is used exclusively these days to attach emblems and trim on new cars. The truck did not originally have this trim so there are no screw holes in the sheet metal. I'm reluctant to drill holes in these rust free nicely painted fenders

Anybody try this? Good / badd idea? All input welcome.

Thanks

If everything is new can clean it should work,
If decide to drill and screw put some rust proofing on the fender After you drill the holes , then screw them on while its still wet .
That will help prevent surface rust.

At $70 a pair I'd screw them in. The factory screws has a dob of tar on the threads to seal them. Also, the DC ones I bought for my fairlane didn't fit nearly as well as the originals so good luck getting them to follow the wheel well opening without hardware.
