DIY powder coat oven seal

Post by Zorm »

Any one out there that built their own oven, where did you get your door seal material? I converted an old lab fridge and now just need to replace the plastic/rubber door seal.

I found this but looking for more http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... dition=new

thanks

Try your local appliance supply stores - they should carry stove rope in different sizes.

How big is your oven? Does it give you enough room for larger parts in it?

Just a word for those who are reading this and thinking "WOW! Powder coat my own parts in the oven!"
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES POWDER COAT PARTS IN ANY OVEN YOU EVER PLAN TO COOK FOOD IN AGAIN!!!!!!
And now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Yep, what flyboy said.....that would be a DUH....common sense but I know sometimes....its not there.
Anyhow. I need about 16' of door seal. The Lab fridge I converted is just a little bigger then a single door home fridge. Got an old oven, removed the controls and elements and put them in/on the fridge. Now need door seal and long power cord. Its large enough to do inner fenders, maybe axle housings, at least 2-3 wheels at a time. I also made one of the shelves like a heat barrier to only heat half the oven for smaller stuff, just need to splice in the lower temp sensor.

Ever notice what it says on the package of some frozen pizzas? "Do not eat without cooking first." Common sense..... isn't.
I would like to see some pics of this oven if you have any.

Might also try wood burning stove or fireplace manufacturers, dealers or service places.

"Do not eat without cooking first." hahahahaha, I know and why is it on the box.......because some fool sued the company because they never said he had to heat it......... Not a huge fan of laywers, a bigger non-fan of the fools that hire them to sue for for really stupid reasons.
I'll post em soon, pics of the oven, not stupid people.
