Nuts and Bolts After SandBlasting

Post by Godspeed128 »

This may be stupid but I don't know after sandblasting nuts and bolt should it be primed with something or just painted if so is there acceptable aerosol can primer that should be used. If I do paint and primer the bolts and nuts will I have trouble with them when it's time to be put back together.

i sandblasted mine also, but i seated them thru a piece of cardboard so only the head of bolt would get painted. Epoxy paint seems to work pretty good, less chance of the socket/wrench taking the paint off.

I would think so , I've never used it, but they make some good products.

Yes. I used it extensively when renewing my '70. Walmart is usually the low-buck source... it's in the automotive section - not the home improvement area. It'll be next to the Rustoleum primer sealer, filler primer, and spray-on undercoating.
