Took her out for a spin. Went a ways down the county road, turned around and came back. Brakes are iffy at best, but runs smooth, shifts through the gears, and winds up nice. First time driving on the road under her own power in unknown numbers of years. Got to replace plug wires, lots of sparking I noticed in the dark. find sweet spot for 2hi, and fix brakes. Then we got a truck.

Nice. If you have an Amsoil dealer nearby, I use their PI (Performance Improver) fuel system cleaner to make even old carbs clean inside. Just don't burn it all off at once as soaking between drives makes it work best and it feels like a higher octane fuel was put in too.

Almost everything on this truck has gone well, better than hoped for. Have made a few more trips on the county road and found my brake fluid problem, rt rear wheel cylinder. So looks like pulling rear axles, seals, etc in the not too distant future, since that's the only way to get drums off. Found my under hood sparking was from a BENT spark plug that was missing about half the porcelain. Can't believe it ran so good before. Liked to have never got that one plug out, but did and and 7 more and all new wires. Here's an updated pic. Still haven't scrubbed all the tree sap off the hood and cab, but getting there.
