Has anyone tried to paint over rolled on Rustoleum?
My truck was painted by an elderly gentleman a couple of owners back with light blue Rustoleum (as far as I can tell), with a roller and trimmed out with a paint brush. Honestly it's damned close the the original sky view blue, a bit lighter though... but has virtually no gloss and the worse case of orange peel, among other textures, I've ever seen.

I'm going pretty low budget on cleaning it up, and not wanting to have it blasted. Just not in the budget, plus I'm not going for a show vehicle, just something to drive around in the summer, plus the occasional trip to the lumber yard. I want presentable, not show quality.
All that being said, I'm hoping to sand it down to remove the texture and paint SOMETHING over it. It seems to have cured and adhered nicely... does anyone know if I can spray something over this mess without having to sand it all off? Worse case I can just apply more Rustoleum over it to freshen it up, but it will still have the same issues with looking nice and durability.
Any suggestions BESIDES stripping to bare metal?
And sorta on topic, does anyone have an opinion on the electric spray guns out there? I'm not in the market for a good compressor right now (again, I've got to go low budget this go-around) but cannot see rolling on another mess or breaking out the rattle cans...
Thank you much in advance for any ideas!!
