Core Support

Post by cstoyer »

I have a 68 F250 4X4 and would like to replace the radiator. I noticed the core support in the truck does not have the mounting flanges so I think this is 2wd support. Is this correct? If so when I order a radiator do I specify a 2wd radiator or 4x4? BTW do they make a replacement 4x4 core support or only 2wd ones?

thx

Not exactly the answer to your question but some additional information on radiator support compatibility. http://www.fordification.com/tech/radsupport.htm

It's not whether it is 2wd vs 4wd. Rather, the engine it was equipped with originally.

Sixes and 302s had the narrower opening and FEs had the larger opening... Mounting style (flanges) depended on the radiator core thickness related to standard cooling, extra cooling, or super cooling.

It has a 360 FE in it which matches the stamp on the frame rail.
