Need a few grill parts

Post by Bama Bill13 »

I'm looking to swap out the grill in my 71' with an earlier one. I've acquired a grill already (a 68) but all it came with was a drivers side bezel. So I need a passenger side aluminum bezel, the turn signal buckets and lenses and a valance. Thanks

And what are you using for headlight buckets? If your going to use the ones from the 71 they won't be right.
They'll look right and mount right but your headlight will be a quarter turn from being straight. The way these headlights are designed they need to be straight up and down to get proper adjustment.
Many people do not have a clue that the 67-69 headlight buckets are different then the 70-72
Mount a bucket from the 71 on the 68 grille, now put a headlight into it, you'll notice the difference.
Like anything else, it will work but in order to do it right you need the buckets from a 67-69.

Good luck on finding a valance. I am doing the same change - 71 to 68, but going with the painted grille.

Fortunately the 70-72 lower valance will work, when replacing a 70-72 grille with a 67-69 grille but not the opposite.
Sure you'll have a little extra indented area by the bottom of grille where the turn signals are, but it's do-able.
It still looks uniform and most people don't catch it because the grille sits like it should.
Now trying to put a 70-72 grille on the 67-69 truck requires the lower valance to be replaced with a 70-72 lower valance.
That's due to the fact of the turn signal housings not fitting on a lower valance from a 67-69.

Thanks Chico, I didn't know that about the valence of the headlight buckets. Add headlight buckets to my list.

I believe those buckets are available at dennis carpenter, along with the springs, etc.
$24 each for the buckets

Hey Chico do you happen to have a side by side pic showing the differences of the 67-69 and 70-72 headlight buckets?
