Cab beam support thing?

Post by cancow »

What is that hollow beam that goes under the back of the cab called? The one that the ends rust out. Are there replacements available? Is it a bolt on?

It's called the cab rear support. They're a weld in part. Here's a couple of pictures of my not so pretty repair. ImageImage Image

You can find them at all the usual places, LMC Dennis Carpenter, etc, usually in the same cataory as floor pans and other sheetmetal.

Thanks. It looked to me like the beam was bolted on. Only the ends are sold?

Yeah, that's all I've ever found. The one I bought from LMC was about a foot long. The one on my truck was full and I mean FULL of dirt on the drivers side but the rest of it was almost pristine inside. Is yours rotted across the top too? If so it doesn't look like it would be too hard to make something to replace it.

I've seen repair panels that slip over the original channel before as well. I guess they could be bolted on. I believe Flashbackf100's sells them, but I'm not positive and not sure whom else.
