seat

Post by 1970F250 »

i put in race seats but they are leather and uncomfortable. i want to go back to the bench seat but my parents say that i have to have heat rests so my head won't got through the rear window. so i want to get seats like these. has any one done this? i know i can but would like to see some pics of others rigs that have newer seats in them.

I want some just like that for my '70 crew cab. I saved my stock rails off my trashed out bench seat just in case I have to rig something up to work. I have never done it or seen it firsthand so I am anxious to see if anyone has tried these as well.

Those are '97 and later style seats. I think they're gonna be too high from the looks of 'em. '96 and earlier seats bolt right in to our year trucks. Actually, they bolt on to our rails.

Take a look at the following page:

http://www.fordification.com/seats.htm

These would all be a virtual bolt-in.

FYI: Lawn chairs make lousy seat replacements. :nono:

Steve, was it bolted/secured to the cab or just utilizing gravity to hold it down?

Oh okay that makes me feel a bit better now.

That reminds me of this time way back in high school in the late 70's. My friend and I we're workin' on his 72 Courier. The bench seat was in "TJ" gittin' reupholstered, so we used a lawn chair and a 5 gal plastic bucket as seats. In a short test drive around the block while making a left turn I fell of the bucket ! We laughed so hard we nearly crashed into a fence! Man those were the days! Young, Dumb and full of #@$!

I'm tall and big, when I was doing my cab I used a milk crate, held down by gravity and my big @ss. I could reach the pedals and see over the dash no sweat. Never went on the highway with it, but it was fun around the back yard and driveway.
